About Lucy |

Lucy Chamberlain has lived and worked in Los Angeles since 1980. She was trained in the art of glass forming at several southern California schools, including California State University at Fullerton. At CSUF she received a Master of Fine Arts degree, and was the first woman to teach glass forming at that university.
She is presently serving on the Artist Advisory Board for the La Quinta Arts Council, and was a founding member of Ten Women Venice, an artist collective. Her work is exhibited in art galleries throughout the Western
United States, and she participates in shows throughout the year.  |
ABOUT MY PROCESS…. 2005 has found me still in the garden, literally and metaphorically. Floral and fruit influences abound, both from “terra firma” and from my deep affinity with the oceans. I express this through my glass in forms primarily indicative of leaves, blossoms, vines, seedpods, coral, anemone and seaweed. My sculptures are not meant to be realistic depictions of flora, but instead a morphing of flora and fauna, with aspects that are animal-like as well.

Most importantly, I want my sculpture to celebrate the medium of glass; not only with the magic that light creates with the myriad of colors, but also by capturing its fluid quality. I hope to give the feeling that one might catch one of my pieces growing, swaying in the breeze, or actually walking away if one is stealthy and keenly observant.

I work in series, each sculpture in the series an original that relates to the others in that series in color and form.
